When we first received the 2025 Ford Escape, we were impressed by what we saw. Looking deeper into what Ford’s latest compact SUV delivers, we’ll admit, we can’t get enough of the 2025 Ford Escape. We’re eager to explain why, so let’s begin. 

Two Sides of Two Different Coins

One of the reasons we admire the 2025 Escape as much as we do is the variety of powertrains. The standard 2025 Escape powertrain pushes 180 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque out of its turbocharged EcoBoost 1.5L I-3 engine with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2025 Escape’s towing capacity with its base engine is 2,000 lbs, plenty enough for a small camper or boat. Not a bad place to start, but the Escape allows you to purchase a stronger powertrain by opting for a higher-tier trim, like the ST-Line, Platinum, or ST-Line Elite. 

The upgraded powertrain standard with higher-end 2025 Escape trims is also an EcoBoost turbocharged engine. However, the better engine has an extra cylinder and more displacement comparatively—a 2.0L I-4 engine. The turbocharged 2.0L I-4 engine in the costlier 2025 Escape models gives you 250 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, with the maximum towing capacity receiving a stellar boost to 3,500 lbs. 

If we consider both turbocharged engines to be two sides of one coin, the other coin is for the two hybrid Escape models. The 2025 Escape HEV and PHEV are both hybrids, but the latter can be plugged into a power source to recharge, whereas the HEV is limited to regenerative braking. The 2025 Escape HEV and PHEV use a 2.5L I-4 engine, with the HEV providing 192 hp, and the PHEV pushes its 14.4 kWh battery to create 210 hp. Both the HEV and PHEV variants of the 2025 Escape come equipped with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), so driving is smooth and comfortable. We can’t get enough of the four powertrains because of the perfect blend of practicality and high-end performance.

A Wide Range of Trims Offer Many Options to Drivers

We always love it when manufacturers push themselves to create fantastic products. Every 2025 Escape is a masterclass in American automotive engineering, but the Platinum and ST-Line Elite deserve the spotlight for a moment. The Platinum and ST-Line Elite comes with the turbocharged 2.0L I-4 engine we mentioned, and each trim has 19-inch wheels. One of our favorite features, also a feature that comes with the ST-Line Select, is the Power Liftgate, so you never have to manually pull your liftgate up to access your cargo area anymore, especially when your hands are full.

Like the ST-Line Select, the Platinum and ST-Line Elite have a heated steering wheel and front seats. However, the Platinum and ST-Line Elite have the best seats for the Escape—a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat and a 6-way power-adjustable front passenger seat. The Platinum and ST-Line Elite also share a Remote Start System with the ST-Line Select, but the ST-Line Select or any other preceding trim doesn’t have access to the available Premium Technology Package. 

The Premium Technology Package is a great blend of premium features, including a 360-degree Camera, HD Radio support, a Head-Up Display on your windshield, ActiveX seats, a premium audio system by Bang & Olufsen with 10 phenomenal speakers, Front Parking Sensors, and Reverse Brake Assist. What about tech? Manufacturers like Ford know competitors are looking to push technological limits, and in a world where top-end vehicles have large screens with excellent features, you may be wondering where the Ford Escape lands.

The standard infotainment center in the 2025 Escape is a SYNC 4 system, complete with everything the SYNC 4 upgrade entails. With the base configuration, the SYNC 4 infotainment center in the 2025 Escape uses an 8-inch screen to navigate the software, serve as your media information center, and provide a viewport for your rearview camera when reversing. If you opt for the 360-degree camera, your infotainment center screen provides you with a view of the surrounding area of your car, including a birds-eye view created by combining camera feeds. 

By today’s standards, the standard 8-inch screen remains excellent, with some vehicles releasing this year with smaller, less feature-rich infotainment centers. What serves as proof that Ford is providing top-end tech is each 2025 Escape coming standard with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There are many reasons why wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is the preferred route—some drivers place their phones on dashboard mounts, and removing the USB cable from the situation cleans up the aesthetic of your cabin. 

The 8-inch screen is great, but it’s not the 2025 Escape at its best. Your 2025 Escape can be fitted with a 13.2-inch infotainment center. The 13.2-inch screen size is larger than Apple’s largest flagship tablet, and it’s a beautiful piece of engineering seamlessly integrated into the dash that gives you 65% more screen real estate, which helps make apps feel less cumbersome. The screen outputs a higher resolution for sharper image clarity. Aside from the larger screen, the 13.2-inch infotainment center has built-in navigation, separated from apps that require 3rd-party solutions, like navigation software via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The Comprehensive Ford Co-Pilot360 Safety Suite

The 2025 Escape Active comes with Ford Co-Pilot360, but Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist+ is optional. Ford’s Lane-Keeping System comes standard with the Active, by extension of Co-Pilot360. The Lane-Keeping System uses sensors and cameras that continuously watch the road. Watching the road gives the vehicle data combining your vehicle’s placement on the road with the distance of the road markings. With the data, your vehicle determines if you’re on the line or crossing it haphazardly. If your driving habits indicate you’re tired, your Escape will illuminate a logo on your dashboard, suggesting it’s time to pull over and rest.

Ford Co-Pilot360 offers BLIS with Cross-Traffic Alert. BLIS stands for the “Blind Spot Information System,” and as the name suggests, it relates to your vehicle’s blind spot. Every driver knows the dangers of a blind spot if not checked carefully, and what BLIS does is use sensors to spot drivers you can’t see in your mirror, and a light will appear on one or both, if necessary, of your side-view mirrors, meaning you’ll have more peace of mind before you steer into the lane beside you. Cross-Traffic Alert being integrated into BLIS is great because reversing into traffic flow, like a parking lot, with vehicles and pedestrians, can be difficult. With Cross-Traffic Alert, you’ll know if a car is about to pass by. 

Ford Co-Pilot360 is great for saving you money on potential damages for yourself and others. Preventing serious injuries and loss of life is something the Ford Co-Pilot360 is designed for, and an excellent example is the Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking. Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking accounts for vehicles and pedestrians in front of your car, and if you’re too close to causing a collision, Automatic Emergency Braking attempts to stop your vehicle for you.
