Sell My Car

Whether you have an extra vehicle you are looking to get rid of or are ready to upgrade your current ride and will not need it afterward, figuring out the best way to sell your car is very important. It can be tempting to simply search online by asking your phone, “What’s the best way to sell my car?” but the results you end up with may not be as reliable as you probably want. Even worse, making the wrong choices as you are looking to sell your vehicle can result in serious problems. There are a growing number of criminals out there who specialize in scamming people out of their vehicles through fraud during a car sale.A smiling couple is shown at a dealership after going to 'sell my car.'

At the end of the day, the safest and easiest way to sell your vehicle is to go through a dealership you know you can trust and rely on. A reputable dealer will make the process straightforward, offer a fair price for your car, and provide great options if you are looking for something new. Whether you want to use your current vehicle as a trade-in toward your next ride or sell it with no strings attached, we are here to help. Contact us at Faith’s Automotive today to find out more about the best way to sell your vehicle, and we will make you a great offer.

Financing Value Trade About Us

Why Should You Sell to a Dealership?

Before we talk about why you should sell us your vehicle, we should address one reason you might have heard to not sell to a dealer: the price. To be honest, a private buyer can potentially offer you more money for your vehicle than any dealership, but that is the only upside to selling your car to another person directly. However, the downsides to going with a private buyer are significant and numerous; for starters, selling to a private person means you have to worry about all the technical stuff yourself. You need to ensure you handle the title transfer properly, fill out the necessary bill of sale, and deal with many other issues—all of which take time.

When you bring your vehicle to us, we will deal with all that stuff for you so that you can have the easiest experience possible. We buy and sell vehicles every day, so none of these details are strange or unexpected to us; even if something unusual does come up, it is a good bet that we have dealt with it before. And if you want to sell a car that still has a lien on it due to a loan that you are paying off, we will help you figure out how to handle that so you can sell your car simply. A private buyer is not about to do that.

Perhaps even more importantly, however, looking for private buyers for your vehicle opens you up to a huge number of potential scams and other criminal concerns. We hear law enforcement warnings all the time about scams involving people buying and selling vehicles. If you are certain you want to sell privately, please take every precaution regarding the information you provide to a stranger, where you meet them and the kind of payment you accept. It is far safer and easier to sell us your vehicle than to risk dealing with rampant scams and fraud involving private “buyers” looking to steal from you.

Things to Do Before Selling Your Car

Getting ready to sell your vehicle is quite simple, especially when you plan on bringing it to one of our fantastic Faith’s Automotive dealerships, like Faith’s Ford or Faith’s Toyota. The first thing you should do is get all the paperwork you have for your vehicle together and track down anything you might have misplaced. This includes the original paperwork like the owner’s manual and any other documents your car came with, along with the title or any loan paperwork you have if there is still a lien on your car. You should also have documentation for service and repairs you have done for your vehicle, like a maintenance log or journal.

The second step is to give your vehicle a good cleaning before you bring it to us, inside and out, and remove all of your belongings from your car. You want your vehicle to make a great first impression, and it is amazing how much a thorough wash can help to get your car, truck, or SUV looking its best. In general, do not worry about making any additional repairs to your vehicle because it usually will not increase its value for us by more than it will cost for you to have the work done. Just get your car looking its best, then you can check out our easy Trade-In Value tool, which will instantly provide you with a real offer.

What Paperwork Do You Need?

Once you have everything together, you can bring your vehicle to us, and we will make you an offer or follow up on the offer you received through our website. When you are ready to sell, you need to have your driver’s license or similar photo ID and the title for the vehicle. If you have lost the title for your vehicle, or it has been too damaged to use for sale, you can request a replacement from the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles. If you are coming to us from New Hampshire and need a title for your vehicle, you need to contact the New Hampshire Division of Motor Vehicles instead.

As we said before, since we have so much experience buying cars, we can take everything from there and make the process as simple for you as possible. Here in Vermont, a bill of sale is required, but we can handle filling this out with all the details for your vehicle. We will take care of everything with just a few pieces of information from you for the necessary forms, so you can relax and know that everything will be done legally and properly. If you are interested in using your vehicle as a trade-in, you can look at our fantastic inventory of vehicles to find the perfect model you can enjoy.

Once all is done, you simply sign the final paperwork, and we will either count the trade-in value of your vehicle toward your purchase of a new ride or provide you with the cash for your vehicle. We will remove your license plates and provide them for you—you can transfer them to another vehicle regardless of whether you live in Vermont or New Hampshire, though you will need to file the necessary paperwork with your state’s motor vehicle agency. Just remember to cancel your insurance on the car you have sold to us or transfer it to a new vehicle through your insurance provider.
